Uma's childhood in Chicago was filled with trains, museums, and public parks—each offering countless opportunities for exploration and play in the city's vast urban landscape. Her perspective broadened during high school after completing a residential Youth Conservation Program in Yellowstone National Park. Inspired by that transformative experience, Uma went on to earn a degree in Outdoor Education from Western Colorado University.
She then spent a decade working seasonally for the National Park Service on trail crews in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, while spending her winters teaching in public schools in Montana. Most recently, Uma taught at a Forest School in Eastern Kentucky, exploring a new part of the country. After two years in the South, Uma felt the pull of Jackson and is thrilled to return to the community she loves.
Now, Uma is excited to join the JHCM team at such a pivotal moment for the organization and is eager to contribute to the growth and development of the children of Jackson.
